Back on the saddle
28 December 2019 - 1:23:48pm

After several years on inactivity, this website has been updated.. There are so many new entries that their is impossible to describe it all... Feel free to explore and drop my a line if you have any question...
A new SANDAL branch
30 July 2010 - 11:02:13am

Exciting news on the Sandal family... An exciting and surprising email by my new cousin Joshua, lead to having our two Sandal families linked together. His ancestor Jankel SANDAL was a brother to my 2nd Great-Grandfather Nisen SANDAL. Jankel\'s daughter Fraydla Ruchla SANDAL married Jonah Leybus LATOVITZKI and several of their descendants are now registered as part of the big SANDAL tree.

On other fronts, many more records were added and updated, in particular to the Slizak-Rybak branch, thanks to the amazing help I received from my Israeli cousin Miryam.
30 July 2010 - 11:01:14am

180 new names have been added since the last update, most notably an entire new Zylberkrantz-Zauberman branch provided by my new cousin Jamie. Berko ZOUBERMAN ‎(b:1856)‎ was a great-grandson to my 4th Great-Grandfather Zyskind ZYLBERKRANTZ ‎(~1791-1869)‎. His family tree spans over 11 children.

Finally, I obtained conclusive documentation clarifying the surname of my 2nd-Great Grandmother Matla SZULSZTEIN ‎(b:1842)‎. She was the grandmother of my Grandfather Israel SLIZAK ‎(1902-1980)‎.

Are we confused yet?
Uncle Max and the Rybak/Slizak connection
24 December 2007 - 4:01:02pm

After many years of hoping to solve the riddle of Max SPOSEEP ‎(b:1876, d:1937)‎, I finally managed to link this name to my Sposob family tree. Max ‎(Menachem Mendel)‎ - an elder brother to my great-grandfather Moshe Sposob- emigrated to the States leaving family behind. With help of several new family members I managed to put together his timeline and tree of descendants.

I also added many new names to the Slizak/Rybak family, descendants of my Great-Grandaunt Gitel Tova RYBAK nee SLIZAK. Gitel was sister to my Great-Grandfather Jankel Peltiel SLIZAK. My grandfather Israel used to say \"we are the last Slizak in the world\". I am glad to prove him wrong. Despite the tragedy of the Shoah, the Slizak family are very much out there.

In total, 180 names have been added to the database since September.
Feldmans back to the 1765\'s in Miedzyrzec Podlaski
2 September 2007 - 3:44:43pm

With the new documents received from the LDS, I can now trace back several generations of Feldmans living in Miedzyrzec, back to my 5th Great Grandfather ‎(!)‎ Melech FELDMAN with an estimated year of birth of 1765! My updated ancestry line:

- Hersko Slizak ‎(b:1930, d:2007)‎
- Sonia ‎(Schendla)‎ Feldman ‎(b:1904, d:1994)‎
- Jankel Feldman ‎(b:1876, d: abt 1943)‎
- Pesach Feldman ‎(b:1848, d:1914)‎
- Israel Elimelech ‎(Srol)‎ Feldman ‎(b: abt 1825, d:1888)‎
- Zelig Feldman ‎(b:1791, d:1861)‎
- Melech Feldman ‎(b: est 1765)‎

Some new branches were added to Zelig FELDMAN, Kiwa SZTEIN and Chaim Mordko WOLFSOHN\'s families. It\'s striking to see the very high death rate in children, showing the very difficult condition our ancestors lived in the early XIX century in Eastern Europe.

Finally, I am in the process to create an online album of photos and documents related to my genealogy. Still work in progress, but it can be visited here. Cousins, if you have anything to contribute to the photo album, please send it along!
June 2007 updates
3 June 2007 - 8:36:23pm

Another bittersweet entry to this journal, and more reasons to continue with this quest:

To start with the good news: 2 months ago my sister gave birth to a baby boy called Maor. Congratulations to the parents, and a big welcome to this world to the new little prince!!!

After several months of research, I reconstructed the tragic family tree of my great-grandaunt Gitel Tova RYBAK nee SZLIZAK. She married Abraham Israel Rybak, and lived in Siedlce, Poland. They were killed by the Nazi beasts, along with their children Simcha, Hersch, Berish, Shlomo and Hinde with their families, plus family members of other children ‎(Yaacov, Moshe, Mordechai)‎, who survived the horror. Yehi Zichram Baruch.

On the other hand, new family virtually re-united. The FELDMAN-BLEUSTEIN branch is taking good shape and I am in contact with many new cousins. As of now, my list of Feldman cousins include family members of 5 out of 6 descendants of my 2nd G-Grandfather Pesach Feldman.

Finally, a big welcome to my new cousin Carrie, bringing the first SZTEJN branch addition to the tree!!!
Even more Feldmans
13 March 2007 - 8:44:42am

The Feldman branch continues to grow new leaves, thanks to my new cousins with the Feldman-Bleustein family in the States, that is Fajga/Fanny Bleustein nee Feldman descendants.

The database is also undergoing a full review of the sources and their citations, which will become longer but - more important - properly documented.
Everyone Has a Name
28 January 2007 - 7:25:37pm

My Granduncle Yankel SPOSOB was among hundreds of Jews killed by the murderous nazis in Lyuboml, Ukraine, about 1942. He was killed with his entire family. Their names remained unknown to me until now. Thanks to the amazing work of Yad Vashem, the Records of the Extraordinary State Commission to Investigate German-Fascist Crimes Committed on Soviet Territory are now online, and the mystery is solved.

This entry is in honor of this family: Yankel Sposob ‎(38)‎, Chaya Sposob ‎(35)‎, Moshko Sposob ‎(13)‎, Gulya Sposob ‎(8)‎ and Sonya Sposob ‎(6)‎.

Yehi zichram baruch.
More Feldmans
6 January 2007 - 12:27:46am

More Feldmans from the States, thanks to information provided by my new cousin Randall. David FELDMAN's branch is growing.
A 15 years old mystery finally solved...
10 September 2006 - 5:52:50pm

Last month I've obtained my great-grandmother Kayla Kleiner's certificate of birth, putting to an end a 15 year old mystery regarding her place of birth and her mother's lineage. Her mother was Neche KATZ ‎(and not Gurfinkel as I believed)‎, while GURFINKEL is her own mother's name. She was born in a little village called Krzczonow, south of Lublin, in Eastern Poland. More to come here...

More information added to the FELDMAN Michigan branch, as well as to the SANDAL different branches ‎(specifically the FISZBEJN family in France and the RUBINSZTEJN family in Israel)‎. With all these additions, my family tree contains now more than 1600 entries.

Finally, a big welcome to the world to my sweet little niece Maya, adding another member to the Slizak tribe.

November 2005 update
27 November 2005 - 12:17:59am

No major updates since last June. I have been quite busy with no time to spend on family history. This review adds a couple of new names and photos. Worth to mention are a photo of my nephew Noam and the addition to the Slizak family of my sweet niece Emily. Welcome to the world, sweetheart!
Bienvenue à ma nouvelle famille de France
12 June 2005 - 11:24:44pm

Thanks to my half 2nd cousin Vanessa Boussidan I met and merged into my Feldman family tree a new branch of cousins from France. Through Vanessa, I established contact with my Great-Grandaunt Rachelle Feldman-Flam !!!
5 Generations completed and new additions
4 June 2005 - 1:29:44am

Welcome to the new 50 Sandal-Hershberg family members, thanks to information provided by my cousin Jerry Hershberg.

After digging in new records coming from Poland ‎(thanks to the JRI-Poland service)‎, I finally can put new surnames to my 2nd great-parents from my Feldman side: My grandmother's grandmothers were called Dina ‎(or Annie Dina)‎ SZTEJN and Dvora FALATYCKI.

With this information I can trace my pedigree back to 4 generations. My genetical pool is now built as follows: SLIZAK ‎(6.25%)‎, SHULODSHTEIN ‎(6.25%)‎, SANDAL ‎(6.25%)‎, WOLFSON ‎(3.125%)‎, ZYLBERKRANTZ ‎(3.125%)‎, FELDMAN ‎(6.25%)‎, STEIN ‎(6.25%)‎, DOMB ‎(6.25%)‎, FALATYCKI ‎(6.25%)‎, SPOSOB ‎(6.25%)‎, TAUB ‎(or TOBE)‎ ‎(6.25%)‎, PLOIT ‎(12%)‎, FARBER ‎(12%)‎, KLEINER ‎(6.25%)‎ and GURFINKEL ‎(6.25%)‎.
